Andy

Andy Jones joined ASIJ in 2024 as the High School Associate Principal. Prior to Tokyo, Andy lived in Brasilia for eight years where he started as the High School Dean of Students and later became the Deputy Head of School for º£½ÇÖ±²¥ at the American School of Brasilia. In addition to teaching in the United States, Andy’s international career has also taken him to schools in Bulgaria, Ecuador and Turkey. Andy attended the University of Illinois, where he received a BA in English, and he received his MEd in Curriculum Instruction — Secondary English Education from the University of Minnesota. The author of two books about coaching, Andy’s writing was recognized with the Norman Mailer Writing Award for Teachers in 2014. Originally hailing from Chicago in the United States, Andy is joined at ASIJ by his wife Erin Kahle, who teaches science in the high school, and their two children. As a family, they love the outdoors–hiking, biking, running and swimming–and we're excited to explore all the wonders that Japan has to offer.
